ISPs – Check out the must-read article below by Katherine Gronberg of NightDragon. Further to the excellent observations and commentary found in this article, we’ve also recently commented on moves by government agencies to increase the security of IoT devices.

The growing number of IoT-based attacks can be attributed to several factors, but there are major challenges for regulators and device manufacturers:

• The wide range of operating systems and OEMs, which creates a fragmented approach to security updates
• Device manufacturers need to understand the security requirements and regulations in each country
• How can government agencies enforce regulations across such a significant number of devices?

IoT security needs to be implemented at the network level with regulators working with ISPs. By stepping up to answer the current market demands for better protection, ISPs can better support their customers, reduce support costs, and enhance their offering and brand.
